Fred Brummer has been a Florida resident since 1957. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Masters of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University. In 1976, he earned qualification as a Certified Public Accountant.

A C.P.A. with Brummer & Rogers, P.A., C.P.A.s, he has practiced accounting in Apopka since 1981. Prior to beginning his private accounting practice, Mr. Brummer had ten years of government accounting and budget control experience. He is a member of both the American and Florida Institutes of C.P.A.'s.

Fred Brummer served as the State Representative from District 38 from 1998 to 2006. While in the Florida Legislature, Fred served as Chair of the State Administration Committee, the Committee for Appropriations for Commerce and Local Affairs and the Committee for Finance and Taxation and as Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee. Fred's committee member service included Education K - 20, Education K-12, Policy, Procedures, and Rules, Legislative Audit, the Legislative Budget Commission, the Select Committee on Florida's Economic Future and the Select Committee on Article V.

While State Representative, Fred Brummer was recognized for his outstanding service in the Florida Legislature by numerous organizations. Fred was acknowledged as "Representative of the Year" from the Florida Police Benevolent Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters. In 2002, the First Amendment Foundation presented him with the prestigious Pete Weitzel/Friend of the First Amendment Award. He received the highest ranking in the Florida House and Senate by the Associated Industries of Florida. The Florida Chamber of Commerce recognized Brummer with its award for legislative accomplishment in each of his eight years in the Legislature. Fred Brummer has always considered community service the most significant quality necessary to hold public office. He has chaired the Orange County School Overcrowding Committee, been a member of the Orange County Membership and Mission Review Board, Orange County Public Schools Finance Advisory Committee, the Wekiva Basin Area Task Force, the Wekiva River Basin Coordinating Committee, Lake County Fire & Emergency Service Advisory Committee, City of Apopka Fire Pension Board and served as President of the Apopka Rotary Club.

The dedicated work in local, civic organizations has earned Fred Brummer service awards from the Apopka Improvement Association, and Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce, and Apopka Daybreak Rotary Club. In addition, he was honored with the Businessman of the Year Award from the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce in 1991 and Rotarian of the Year in 1993.

Fred and Cathi Brummer have been married since 1972. They enjoy traveling, music and reading.
